Westport, CT- Aisha & Co.  is  pleased  to  announce  that the Mocha Girl Character  from  its  acclaimed Ishababies® line  has  been named the 2016 Top Toy (doll category) from the Creative Child Awards Program. The Creative Child Magazine’s Awards Program is a perennial program where product submissions are reviewed by moms, music educators and early education professionals.  Only one product per category can win a Toy of the Year Award with remaining finalists possibly receiving a prestigious Preferred Choice award or the Seal of Excellence based on their ability to exceed expectations for nurturing creativity and education in children.

This is a most extraordinary honor since the Ishababies ® characters previously received the 2009 Top Toy SEAL OF EXCELLENCE and the 2011 Top Toy (Plush Category). However, this is the first time where an individual character has been singled out for the honor.  Ishababies ®  are the critically acclaimed family of soft sculptured characters created by pediatrician Aisha Bailey.  While they are known for their unique look, touch and feel, Ishababies® Mocha Girl has been especially popular for her creative design.

“When I initially created my babies, I looked at swatches of prospective skin colors for (Mocha Girl) and was told that she would be ‘too dark’.  I went ahead despite resistance from naysayers and designed her to be extra cute with her beautiful soft puffs and big cheeks” says creator Aisha Bailey.  “I cried the very first time that I saw her and held her in my arms.”

Dr. Bailey goes on to say that Mocha Girl has been the most popular Ishababies® doll across all markets domestically and internationally,   “She even developed an especially large following from places as far away as the Phillipines.” Dr. Bailey goes on to demonstrate that Mocha Girl shows no signs of slowing in her popularity. “This award is indicative of something larger.
